Keep It Reel

There is one thing all the locals seem to know about the section of the Susquehanna that runs through Conoy Township, it's all about the fishing. Long referred to as "the Warm Waters" by locals because of the power plants use of the river to cool machinery. The area is known for a variety of fish species and the size of those fish!

It really doesn't seem to matter what type of fishing you prefer, we have had success across the board. Whether we are fishing the bank, open water, underwater ridges and rocks, night fishing, bow fishing or otherwise, the odds are almost always in your favor. The same goes for your gear! We all know those kids rods tend to pull in some big fish even though you'd never expect it. You don't need expensive gear to get out there and catch some fish. You really just have to get out there and put in the time.

Maybe it's the interesting natural features in the area that make it a fantastic fishing spot? The sculpted rocks at the bottom of Conewago Falls has to be a great habitat for fish. It could have something to do with all the tributaries that flow into the Susquehanna in the area or just a perfect combination of factors. I am not sure what it is exactly but I know it holds pretty true! York Haven Hydro plant even allows fishing from its catwalk and is quite a popular hang out for anglers.

We're no Jeremy Wade, but we have reeled in some river monsters!
