Calling All Adventurers
To the Adventurer,
My love affair with nature started decades ago along the banks of the Susquehanna River in the shadows of the rolling hills that stretched as far as my eyes could see. That landscape is etched into my memory. I remember growing up spending my days exploring the trails, climbing the rocks and fishing in the creeks and streams. The local features seemed like an extension of my own backyard. As I grew and shaped myself as a person, nature grew with me. In some of life's toughest times I turned to nature and the outdoors. Even with a growing family, the importance of sharing nature within it didn't escape me. Nature had always anchored me, and I wanted that for my children too.
When I reflect on all the time I have spent in my life, some of the best of it has been invested in nature with the people I care about. Making memories and sharing special moments. Testing our skills and learning life's lessons together. Sharing our passions and sparking fresh curiosity. Every time I see the leaves changing in the fall or experience a fleeting spring shower, those moments come rushing back to me. As life races by, I can think back to those simpler times. When we could slow down and just be outside, a day when we had fun together and that was all that mattered. In those instances, a deep love and appreciation for nature washes over me and serves as a reminder to what my time in nature has actually given me, opportunity. That’s how this adventure started, River Rock Recreation campsite is my family’s nature getaway. Our home away from home, and we want to share our getaway with you. This campsite has provided opportunity for my family to escape the complex world. Every time we venture outdoors into nature we are exploring and rediscovering who we are. We test ourselves and push the boundaries of what we know ourselves to be. We make cherished memories and grow closer through those activities. Getting back to nature is an excavation of ourselves, a remembering of who you were before the world got it's hands on you. An unearthing of who you could be, and that's why I emerge from each camping trip as if I am visiting the world again, for the first time. Let River Rock Recreation be your escape too. Don't limit yourself, the freedom of discovery through experience is what being an adventurer is all about. |
