This is how we do; Our Style

We have been known to throw down a few different ways but we never skimp on food!
We know our way around a campfire and when we camp, -we feast.

It really doesn't matter what you are cooking on. It all comes down to preference.
On short camping trips we commonly cook over an open fire or charcoal grill, using minimal gear.
Typically, we keep it simple using a grate, tripod or pie irons.
Campfire cooking is pretty straight forward and a right of passage when camping out!

However, don't worry to much if you're not feeling the campfire cooking, there are plenty of alternatives.
There's no shortage of options in the gear isle. A small portable grill is a versatile option, they can range from tailgate sized, to table top, to an ultra light single burner!
There's always the no cook method. We have never fully taken that on but we mix in a good deal of no-cook meals or left overs throughout our trips. Plus-side, it saves time and is perfect on hot days.

A lot of times you'll see us with our flat top griddle and deep fryer in tow.
-This is a no judgement zone, there is no shame in wanting some good grub on long camp outs!
We take Taco Tuesdays and Wing Night serious.
Once, we brought a smoker... it was genius and delicious!

Obviously our style varies wildly.
What we cook on depends on,
how many people are camping, how long we are camping out and where we're staying.

What's in our cooler

You know our cooler isn't light!
Once you know how you will be preparing your meals its time to focus on the food. Meal planning is key. Taking the time to choose recipes that call for the same ingredients is worth the extra effort beforehand. It means more space in your cooler and less waste.

Don't sacrifice your time or taste. We swear by preparing food ahead of time and freezing it. This keeps your food at a colder temperature, making it safer. It also saves on ice and space in the cooler. More importantly preparing the food at home allows you to spend that time camping not slaving over the fire, frustrated. This is one of the "keys" in taking the work out of a camping out.
