Meet the King of adventure, dad!😎

All hail the King of Adventure!

Cue the Dad Jokes.
He's fun, funny and probably gets in trouble by Mom just as much as you do.

It's time to Celebrate your Dad! He's usually walking the wild side. One thing Dad loves, is an adventure and with him everything turns into an adventure!

Ask Dad to take you outside, invite him on a fishing trip or take him camping for old times sake!
It's time to make some new memories.

We all know Dad's got jokes but they also tell the best stories. There is no better way to connect then telling stories all night around the campfire!

He taught us everything we know!

Dad's are full of old tips and tricks, tap into that knowledge by spending time learning something new from your pops.

No matter how you choose to celebrate Dad this Father's Day, just make sure he knows you love him.

A new fishing rod couldn't hurt too.
Happy Father's Day from River Rock Recreation!

May your Father's Day be better than your jokes!

This is how we do; Our Style

We have been known to throw down a few different ways but we never skimp on food!
We know our way around a campfire and when we camp, -we feast.

It really doesn't matter what you are cooking on. It all comes down to preference.
On short camping trips we commonly cook over an open fire or charcoal grill, using minimal gear.
Typically, we keep it simple using a grate, tripod or pie irons.
Campfire cooking is pretty straight forward and a right of passage when camping out!

However, don't worry to much if you're not feeling the campfire cooking, there are plenty of alternatives.
There's no shortage of options in the gear isle. A small portable grill is a versatile option, they can range from tailgate sized, to table top, to an ultra light single burner!
There's always the no cook method. We have never fully taken that on but we mix in a good deal of no-cook meals or left overs throughout our trips. Plus-side, it saves time and is perfect on hot days.

A lot of times you'll see us with our flat top griddle and deep fryer in tow.
-This is a no judgement zone, there is no shame in wanting some good grub on long camp outs!
We take Taco Tuesdays and Wing Night serious.
Once, we brought a smoker... it was genius and delicious!

Obviously our style varies wildly.
What we cook on depends on,
how many people are camping, how long we are camping out and where we're staying.

What's in our cooler

You know our cooler isn't light!
Once you know how you will be preparing your meals its time to focus on the food. Meal planning is key. Taking the time to choose recipes that call for the same ingredients is worth the extra effort beforehand. It means more space in your cooler and less waste.

Don't sacrifice your time or taste. We swear by preparing food ahead of time and freezing it. This keeps your food at a colder temperature, making it safer. It also saves on ice and space in the cooler. More importantly preparing the food at home allows you to spend that time camping not slaving over the fire, frustrated. This is one of the "keys" in taking the work out of a camping out.

There is no wrong way to go about your camp menu, just bring the foods you love to eat.

Mom Is Giving Dad A Run For His Money!

Celebrating Moms everywhere!

Mom. Mommy. Mama. Mother.
It doesn't matter when you call on her, (or what you call her!)
She's always got your back.

The thing about Moms is they wear so many hats!
Dad might be cool, but is he teacher, chef, nurse, maid, counselor, #1 fan, planning and managing our whole lives cool? Maybe, but today's about mothers.

While Dad gets to rule the Fundom (Kingdom of Fun), Mom is steering the ship.
Even Dad has to answer to "the look". (you know the one.)
So hold the Dad jokes. He might be the king of adventure but don't write off yo' Momma.
Mom is giving him a run for his money!
Picture
Word to your mother! Moms really know how to lift you up and hold it down.

All hail the Queens of Adventure!

She's the best outdoor adventure partner! (According to Dad)
Not everyone has an outdoorsy Dad. If you're lucky you have an outdoorsy Mother!
You could learn a thing or two from her for sure.
Take Mom on an adventure!
She wants to get out of the house! ...and probably doesn't want to cook dinner.

Let's take her camping!
Explore during the day and enjoy endless mini-adventures together. Let her lounge around in a hammock and relax while someone else cooks over the campfire. (or grill, Dad we got you.) Spend the night looking at the stars and listening to the river.
It doesn't matter what you do.
Mom's just want to see everyone having fun together.

Camping Season!

It's Camping Season!

Picture
It's been a rough few weeks.
We are looking forward to being able to provide some relief and get you outside!

Here's the Deal

2020's have been a wild ride!
We have been doing our best during this unprecedented situation to navigate our way through. We plan to, and encourage everyone to follow the CDC guidelines in regards to COVID19.
We aim to be part of the solution, not the problem.

This year everyone is doing things a little different. Not much has changed in our neck of the woods. We have always followed protocols for disinfection and set high standards for service. Given the current situation we are intensifying that effort. Here's the run down on what COVID19 means for operations at our campsite.

In case you didn't already know, we are NOT a campground. We ARE a single campsite.
You don't have to worry about any crowd. Our 2 acre campsite is situated on 15 acres of private property.
The campsite is all yours during your stay. Whether it's just you or your whole crew, the only crowd around will be your own.
(NO CHANGE)

There are No "facilities" at River Rock Recreation Campsite.
We have no formal facilities on-site. You won't find an office, but we are always a phone call and a few minutes away if you need us. There are no hook ups or running water available at camp. Trash and recycling containers are on-site. (NO CHANGE)

We DO have a Port-a-Potty.
We have secured our drop off date! The restroom is serviced once a week by the provider. In-between reservations we clean and sanitize the portable toilet or schedule additional services with the provider as needed. (NO CHANGE)

We DO have an outdoor kitchen and shower area.
These are primitive wooden structures that are intended provide the essential space needed to be functional. The kitchen counters and sink are cleaned between reservations. The shower is an open structure, designed for quick camp cleanup. It is 'Shower Bag Compatible'. (NO CHANGE)

There ARE Hammock rentals included in your reservation.
Per usual, we will be cleaning and sanitizing hammocks between reservations. If you do not wish to utilize this part of your reservation just let us know at check in.

We DO provide rental gear.
Our other rental gear & 'Purchasable Amenities" are optional additions to your reservation. It is your choice to decide if you feel comfortable using these services or not. All gear is cleaned and sanitized between uses.

We DO have to check you in.
We have to open the gate! Upon arrival we do a quick check in to answer any questions you may have and sign paperwork. We plan to keep our distance and provide hand sanitizer. If you'd prefer you can print the papers, sign them before you arrive and just hand them off. Either way, check in is a breeze.

That's all Folks!

Our campsite has always been about getting away from the crowd and connecting with nature.
Providing a space to escape to, time to explore and room for adventure.

As the situation evolves and changes, we will reassess our decisions as needed to ensure the safety of the public and to adhere to the recommendations given by the State/CDC.
